Quality Mobile Reporting

Promoting Objective Reporting

The power of mobile reporting is particularly visible in situations of conflict and disaster. However, to ensure objectivity an to avoid sensational reporting, Voices of Africa Media Foundation promotes a continuous stream of reliable reports from trained reporters. It is imperative that reporters be familiar with the rudiments of journalism, mobile phone technology and ways to publish their reports in order to reach the right audience, such as media companies, NGOs or policy makers. That is why we believe in offering quality training to local youth with the ambition to work as a reporter.

Young mobile reporters versus traditional media

  • Mobile phone camera able to capture tv quality videos
  • Low barriers between interviewer and interviewee
  • No cultural or language barriers
  • Talented, unemployed youth targeted
  • News stories directly uploaded
  • Building a marketplace for assignments for our reporters through part nerships
  • Providing visibility of local news published by talented reporters
  • Creating a pool of professional independent community reporters
