Camjos tell their story in Bonn

Camjos_Bonn.jpgOlivier Nyirubugara, Voices of Africa Media Foundation senior coach - For the second consecutive time, the Voices of Africa Media Foundation was invited to attend Deutsche Welle’s Global Media Forum in Bonn, Germany. Like in 2010, three of the Foundation’s alumni came from Africa to share their experiences.

While Beryl Omunya spoke on a panel that discussed renewable energies in her home country Kenya, backing her point with two mobile reports, Edward Aklade joined a panel on climate change coverage in West Africa, with a clear focus on his country, Ghana. On his side, Abisae Maeda, from Arusha, Tanzania did not speak on any panel but took advantage of this global event to attend a maximum of workshops.

This year’s theme was related to media and climate change. As a training organization, the Foundation strives to train the reporters’ eye about discovering and covering issues that affect local communities. Doubtless, climate change appear frequently in the mobile reports coming from trainees and alumni, with a strong emphasis on the local perspective.
