About Us

Voices of Africa Media Foundation is a young organisation that was founded in 2006 to take full advantage of technological advancements to contribute to enhancement of the media sector in Africa. The first pilot project was carried out in 2007.

Since our inception we have focused on testing the mobile phone technology, setting up a training website and developing a  curriculum. Regional coordinators were appointed in East and West Africa. These media professionals are now responsible for local recruitment and training. We developed selection criteria for trainees to identify high potentials who will reward our faith in their abilities. Partnerships have been developed with training institutions, NGOs, companies and media organisations. Read more about our partners.

VOAMF has trained over 30 mobile reporters in  Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya and Tanzania. They have produced  around 800 video reports on our training website.

By the end of 2010 we aim to have trained over 50 trainees, spread over 5 African countries, resulting in more than 2000 published mobile reports. Our long term aim is to train 200 trainees annually spread over the Sub-Saharan African continent.

Our efforts Awarded!

Our efforts have not gone unnoticed and as a result the organisation has been rewarded with several prizes for our training website www.voicesofafrica.com.
