About Us

Voices of Africa Media Foundation is a young media training organisation that was founded in 2006 to take full advantage of technological advancements to contribute to the enhancement of the media sector in Africa. The first pilots project was carried out in 2007 in Ghana and Kenya.

Since our inception we have focused on testing the mobile phone technology, setting up a training website and developing a  curriculum. Partnerships with regional or local training organisations have helped conduct trainings in a number of countries. Partners are  responsible for local recruitment and other related overhead tasks. We developed selection criteria for trainees to identify the most motivated and suitable ones who will reward our faith in their abilities. We have also developed partnerships with other training institutions, NGOs, companies, and media organisations. Read more about our partners.

VOAMF has trained over 100 mobile reporters in  Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa, Uganda, DR Congo and Zimbabwe. They have produced  more than 1,000 video reports on our training website.
